Ray Bonneville: Austin Texas native and musician

Back in April this year, I got a call from one of my clients; Red House Records, here in St. Paul, MN. I have been shooting film again for the last few years and still love the feel of it. Well, it turns out so did the el Presidente. He wanted me to shoot Ray at SXSW, the big music event once every year in Austin for 4 days. I told him, I would rather wait a few weeks and go down there to shoot with Ray when it's just one on one, we can move around in a car faster and go to cool locations. Our original thought was to shoot in a smaller town just outside of Austin, that really rural look, but once I got there Ray drove around east Austin, I loved the old places, people literally had roosters in their front yards with clothes lines with vintage era dresses hanging on the lines. I love that era so much, I try and re-create it whenever I can. Ray and I drove around for two days shooting anything that looked old and felt like you lived there back in the 1930's. We found some really nice people who let us shoot in there yard for a few hours, we shot the cover off the side of the road near Luckenbach, TX on our way back to Austin from a road trip out west. I think we did a great job considering it us just Ray and I working together. Thanks Ray, that was a lot of fun, I hope we can work together when your next record comes out...dback
